CloudThat conducted a Student-Focused ‘Security Hackathon’

CloudThat announced the launch of a hackathon aimed at developing Microsoft Azure solutions in response to the growing global challenge of cloud security. The hackathon, titled “The Security Hackathon,” lasted for five weeks and was open to all students, freshers, and Azure beginners with an interest in cloud security, regardless of their IT background or coding experience. It was divided into three stages, including registration, assessment/idea submission, and presentation of the proposed solution and evaluation.

The purpose of the hackathon was to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent in solving the prevalent cloud security challenges faced by organizations worldwide. The most common threats organizations face include browser attacks, password attacks, phishing attacks, ransomware attacks, malware attacks, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, cloud infrastructure attacks, data theft, less transparency on cloud data, and insider threats. Participants in the hackathon were required to propose a solution using Microsoft Azure security services that addressed at least two of these threats.

In addition to the opportunity to intern with CloudThat, the winners of the hackathon also received cash prizes, branded goodies, Microsoft certification exam vouchers, and $100 Azure platform credit. The Security Hackathon was held in virtual mode and participants could participate individually or in groups. Registrations for the hackathon were open from November 9th, 2022, to November 23rd, 2022.
