AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials- Course Overview

The course prepares learners to perform common AWS-related tasks in a new or AWS-adjacent job role. It follows a single continuous narrative. The learner is a newly hired cloud associate at AnyCompany, a growing café chain moving its customer-facing ordering app off aging on-premises servers onto AWS. Each module is the next task their manager hands them across their first week. Content spans cloud concepts and AWS orientation, cloud strategy and economics, security, the core AWS services (compute, storage, databases, and networking), cost management, and support resources. The course uses classroom interaction and instructor demonstrations. It does not include hands-on labs.

After completing AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials Students Will be Able To:

  • Explain fundamental cloud computing concepts and the benefits of the AWS Cloud.
  • Identify core AWS services for compute, storage, databases, networking, and security.
  • Understand AWS global infrastructure and its role in application deployment.
  • Explain the six main benefits of the AWS Cloud
  • Apply basic cloud security concepts, including IAM and the Shared Responsibility Model.
  • Recognize common cloud migration strategies and architectural best practices.
  • Use AWS cost management and billing tools to monitor and optimize cloud spending
  • Match business requirements to appropriate AWS services and solutions.

Learning objectives of the course

  • Explain cloud computing, recognize IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS as the industry and exam vocabulary for cloud service models, and apply this course's practical lens that sorts AWS services by operational effort (serverless for builders, managed for builders, and services ready for direct business-user use) to choose a tool, and describe how AWS global infrastructure affects deployment decisions.
  • Identify the six pillars of the Well-Architected Framework and recognize which pillar applies to a given cloud decision.
  • Describe the financial advantages of cloud (CapEx versus OpEx, economies of scale) to build the business case for AWS.
  • Identify the 7 Rs as migration strategies and recognize which applies to a given workload within a strategic migration plan.
  • Identify whether a security task belongs to AWS, the customer, or is shared under the shared responsibility model.
  • Recognize IAM components and identify how the principle of least privilege applies to a given access scenario.
  • Match common workload requirements to appropriate AWS compute, storage, and database services
  • Describe VPC components and identify how network-level connectivity and security controls apply to a given scenario.
  • Match cost scenarios to the appropriate AWS cost management tool for monitoring, forecasting, or optimization needs.
  • Distinguish between AWS services that require architecture design and configuration and services that are ready for direct employee use, and identify examples of each (e.g., Amazon Quick Suite, Kiro)
  • Develop a personal 30-day learning plan identifying skills to develop and resources to use.

Had a custom 4 day training on DevOps. Harris AK was our trainer. I really like his style of teaching. More than a trainer he is a storyteller that will build slowly but steady the full picture. Thank you!
