Microsoft Releases Two More Role-based Certification & Training Tracks for Azure

This is an update to my last article where I wrote about the New Role-based Azure Certification & Training Tracks. If you did not get a chance to read it, please do.

The previous article was about the new Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate track, which replaces the Microsoft Exam 70-533. Since then two more role-based certification tracks have been released, each containing 3 exams and two paths to achieve them. They are:

Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate
Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert

At the time of writing this article the exams are in beta.

Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate

Target Audience & Prerequisites for this track:

Microsoft Azure Developers who design and build applications / services for Azure Cloud
- Their current / future work includes the entire SDLC from solution design, to development, deployment, testing and maintenance
- They partner with Solution Architects, DBAs, Cloud Administrators to implement and test these applications / services
Candidates should be proficient in developing applications / services using Microsoft tools and Microsoft Azure IaaS / PaaS services around compute, storage, security, etc.
They should be skilled in one of the popular (supported) programming languages such as .NET / Java

There are three exams currently being offered (in beta) for this track:

AZ-200: Microsoft Azure Developer Core Solutions (beta)
AZ-201: Microsoft Azure Developer Advanced Solutions (beta)
AZ-202: Microsoft Azure Developer Certification Transition (beta) – Upgrade Exam
- AZ-202 covers delta topics between the new certification and Exam 70-532

So, which one’s for you?

NOTE: The transition exam retires on 31^st March 2019

Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Target Audience & Prerequisites for this track:

Microsoft Azure Solution Architects who advise stakeholders and translates business requirements into secure, scalable and reliable solutions
Candidates taking up this exam should possess advanced knowledge on Microsoft Azure services across networking, virtualization, identity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data management, budgeting and governance
They should be proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Azure administration, development, DevOps and architecture

There are three exams currently being offered (in beta) for this track:

AZ-300: Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies (beta)
AZ-301: Microsoft Azure Architect Design (beta)
AZ-302: Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Certification Transition (beta) – Upgrade Exam
- AZ-302 covers delta topics between the new certification and Exam 70-535

Which one should you go for?

NOTE:

There is no upgrade path / transition exam for Exam 70-534
The transition exam retires on 31^st March 2019
