AWS announced Amazon Nova on 3^rd December 2024, latest generation of cutting-edge foundation models (FMs) offering frontier intelligence and unbeatable price performance, exclusively on Amazon Bedrock. Amazon Nova offers the capability to reduce costs and latency for a wide range of generative AI tasks. You can generate marketing contents at scale, build document processing applications that handle images and text, develop AI assistants that understand and act on videos, using Amazon Nova’s intelligence and flexibility.

Amazon Nova provides two model types: understanding and creative content generation.

• Understanding Models: These models accept text, image, or video inputs to generate text output.
• Creative Content Generation Models: These models accept text and image inputs to produce image or video output.

This versatility makes Amazon Nova an invaluable tool for a variety of applications.

2. Amazon Nova Foundation Models

Amazon Nova includes three understanding models namely Amazon Nova Micro, Amazon Nova Lite, and Amazon Nova and Amazon Nova Premier is coming soon, that process text, image, or video inputs to generate text output.

Amazon Nova Pro for Document Summarization

In Amazon Bedrock playground, select chat playground and select ‘Amazon Nova Pro model’. Upload pdf file of Amazon AI service card to Amazon Nova and add the following prompt: “Write a summary of this document in 100 words. Also draw memory map.”

Response: Generated response gives quick summary of the document with memory map.

Amazon Nova for Video Processing
In Amazon Bedrock playground, select chat playground and select ‘Amazon Nova Pro model’. Upload mp4 file of sunset and add the following prompt: “Describe this video.”

 Sample video of sunset uploaded in prompt.

 Response: Response generated gives the description of video.

Amazon Nova Reel for video creation

 In Amazon Bedrock playground, select image/video playground and select ‘Amazon Nova Reel model’. Add the following prompt: “Arc shot on a salad with dressing, olives and other vegetables; 4k; Cinematic;”

 Prompt:

Response: A video file is created and uploaded to Amazon S3 bucket.
