- Access to a vCenter Server Appliance Management Interface (VAMI)
- FTP Server – To take back up
Lab Overview
After completing this lab, you will be able to configure your vSphere environment to take / schedule file-based backup of your vCenter inventory on FTP server. This back up files are very much useful in case of failure / crashing of your vCenter, that is your centralized management interface of all hosts & Clusters, VM & Templates, Storages and Networking objects. In this lab, you will be:
- Exploring license services from vCenter
- Add license keys to vCenter Inventory
- Assign vSphere license to vCenter & ESXi Server
Validate or verify vCenter 7 ESXi host licenses
Step-by-Step Lab Guide
- Access vCenter Server Appliance Management Interface (VAMI) and Login using credentials.

- As we are going to take backup in FTP Server, make sure you have one FTP server preconfigured as a Backup Server.

- Return to VAMI & Click Back Up.

- Next to Activity, Click on BACKUP NOW

- Fill out the required details of backup server.


- Cross verify the status of backup.


- We can also schedule the vCenter Backup on desired day and time.

- Let us create Automatic Backup schedule on every Saturday 11:59 PM (Weekly Backup)

- Review your Backup Schedule.
