Introduction
Workflow Monitor is a new feature of AWS Media Services that helps you discover, visualize, and monitor your live video workflows. It can automatically discover the resources that are part of your workflow, create signal maps that show the flow of your video content across these resources, and create custom alarms to notify you of any issues in your workflow.
This signal map acts like a real-time control center, displaying all the interconnected elements across AWS Elemental services like AWS MediaConnect, AWS MediaLive, and AWS MediaPackage. It also integrates seamlessly with Amazon S3 buckets for storage and Amazon CloudFront distributions for delivery.
At a glance, you can see:
- All active resources: Every element involved in your workflow is identified.
- Real-time status: Each resource displays its current operational state, updating every second.
- Visualized connections: Forget switching between consoles! The map clearly shows how everything connects within your workflow.
- Live video previews (optional): For select resources like AWS MediaLive channels or MediaPackage endpoints, you can even get live thumbnail previews of the video stream (if available).
This intuitive visualization empowers you to quickly grasp the overall health and connectivity of your media workflows, saving you valuable time and effort.
