Integration of Power Platform and Azure for excellent Automation Capabilities

Voiced by Amazon Polly

Businesses can create and automate business applications, streamline processes, and analyse data with the help of the Microsoft Power Platform, a collection of low-code/no-code solutions. It cuts down on development time and expenses by enabling users to swiftly create and implement solutions with little coding. Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Pages are some of the essential parts of the Power Platform. On the other hand, Computing, analytics, storage, networking, and artificial intelligence are just a few of the cloud services that Azure provides. These services are available to customers who want to run their current apps in the cloud or create and scale new ones. Azure gives companies flexibility and ease in managing and deploying apps around the world.

Automation is king in the realm of digital transformation, and you get a powerhouse of automation when you combine the strong capabilities of Microsoft Azure with the low-code power of Microsoft Power Platform. As a developer, IT administrator, or business user, this combination can make your solutions more than just “helpful”—they can make them “game-changing.”

Power Platform is great for quickly creating data visualisations, chatbots, automations, and apps. However, combining it with Azure creates new opportunities:

  • Advanced integration with external systems
  • AI and machine learning with Azure Cognitive Services
  • Scalable workflows via Azure Logic Apps and Functions
  • Enhanced security through Azure Active Directory and Key Vault
  • Data mastery using Azure SQL, Data Lake, and Synapse

Case 1: Let’s say you get thousands of PDF invoices per month. Processing them manually is time-consuming and prone to mistakes. Using Azure in conjunction with Power Platform:
When a new invoice is uploaded to SharePoint, Power Automate begins to run.
Data is extracted from the invoice by Azure Form Recogniser (via AI Builder or a custom connector).  Users can review or modify the extracted data using Power Apps.  The finished data is stored in Azure SQL or Dataverse.  Trends like monthly spending or vendor performance are visualised by Power BI.  This is quick, scalable, AI-powered automation at the next level.

Case 2: Calling a third-party API with bespoke authentication or carrying out extensive data processing are two examples of tasks that are too complicated or computationally demanding for Power Apps alone.  Hence, create an Azure function using JavaScript or C#.  Make it available as an HTTP endpoint.  Use a custom connector to call it from Power Automate or Power Apps.  Your low-code application can now access full-code capabilities in the background.

Case 3: Avoid hardcoding secrets into your apps or flows. Rather, u se Azure Key Vault to store sensitive data, such as API keys.  To obtain them, use Power Automate’s authenticated HTTP calls or Azure Logic Apps.  Make sure your apps are enterprise-ready, safe, and maintainable.

Case 4: Although Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps are similar from within, Logic Apps provide more enterprise-level features like,  Integration with DevOps built in  Advanced Azure Monitor monitoring and diagnosis.  Power Automate flows can be started from Logic Apps and vice versa, allowing you to customise your architecture to meet the needs of your organisation.
Case 5: Make decision-making in real time a reality. To collect and sanitise data, use Power Automate.  Large datasets can be stored in Data Lake or Azure Synapse.  Create dynamic Power BI dashboards and for inline activities, such as assigning tasks or approving budgets, developers can integrate Power Apps straight into reports.

It is best to integrate Power Platform with Azure as it makes them even more powerful.  When combined, they enable organisations to use fewer resources and grow quickly. Both Power platform and Azure have seamless integration with the Microsoft ecosystem and hence it is easy to rely on multiple data sources and services. These days, developing automated ecosystems that propel true transformation is more important than merely developing apps. With the integration, it gives an upper hand in creating solutions that are more intelligent, scalable, safe, and smart.
