The customer relied on a single Amazon EC2 instance running scheduled Node.js jobs via crontab, which became a scalability bottleneck and a single point of failure. As job volume grew, the absence of retry mechanisms, alerts, and automation made the setup inefficient and misaligned with cloud best practices.
• Migrated Node.js scripts to AWS CodeCommit for centralized version control and collaboration.
• Created isolated AWS CodeBuild projects with buildspec.yml for consistent execution.
• Replaced crontab with Amazon EventBridge for centralized job scheduling.
• Used scoped AWS IAM roles and injected secrets via AWS Secrets Manager and Parameter Store.
• Enabled Amazon CloudWatch Logs, retries, DLQs, and SNS alerts for monitoring and reliability.
• Decommissioned Amazon EC2 instance after successful migration of all jobs.
