The Challenge
ACE Online faced problems in their GCP setup with costly over-provisioned SQL databases, limited availability, and wasted Redis resources. Frequent VM crashes and downtime due to missing load balancers aggravated the situation.
Solutions
- Deployed Amazon RDS SQL server (db.r5.large) with 100 GB storage in private subnets, ensuring multi-AZ setup for 99.99% availability and scheduled backups for disaster recovery.
- Configured AWS Windows EC2 t3a.xlarge server for client applications in autoscaling and load-balanced environment, maintaining 99.99% availability during peak hours over the last two months.
- Utilized Elastic Cache for Redis (cache.m5.large) to reduce latency while implementing auto-scaling for Amazon EC2 Windows servers with Microsoft IIS and .NET core support to ensure optimal performance.
- Enhanced security through AWS SSM for secure Amazon EC2 connections, AWS IAM permissions for resource access control, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for AWS accounts.
- Leveraged AWS GuardDuty for intelligent threat detection and AWS CloudTrail for comprehensive API activity tracking.
- Implemented budgets with alerts for cost control and utilized a range of AWS services.
