Secure cross-account production migration with database synchronization, phased validation checkpoints, and rollback-ready execution framework.

About the Client

B-Trac operates multiple business-critical applications supporting logistics, invoicing, parking, ERP, and operational management platforms. These applications require high availability, reliable database consistency, and secure production-grade infrastructure to support day-to-day business operations. The organization initiated a cloud migration strategy to modernize infrastructure, improve scalability, strengthen disaster recovery capabilities, and streamline operational management across environments.

The Challenge

The migration involved multiple interconnected production applications and databases operating within a restricted downtime window. The key challenge was ensuring accurate synchronization of schemas, tables, indexes, constraints, and production data between source and target environments during migration execution, where even minor inconsistencies could directly impact application functionality and business operations. Additionally, the migration required secure cross-account workload movement, production traffic cutover, rollback preparedness, and strict validation processes to maintain operational continuity throughout the migration lifecycle.

Solutions

  • Performed full database backup and restoration using SQLDumper for secure migration of production databases.
  • Implemented the Delta Sync mechanism to synchronize incremental database changes between source and target environments.
  • Migrated EC2 instances and EBS volumes using snapshot creation, sharing, and restore methodology.
  • Recreated networking components, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, and Elastic IP configurations.
  • Updated new Amazon RDS endpoints in application configurations before production cutover activities.
  • Executed production traffic cutover using Elastic IP (EIP) reassociation for seamless traffic redirection.
  • Configured and validated Amazon S3 synchronization to maintain application storage dependencies.
  • Implemented schema validation, row count verification, rollback readiness, and phased validation checkpoints before final cutover.

The Results

Successfully migrated 5 production applications and 25 databases with 100% validation success across all schemas, tables, and indexes, achieving secure cross-account migration with minimal downtime.
