The client operated over 50 isolated VPCs hosting diverse Amazon EC2 workloads, resulting in fragmented infrastructure, inconsistent security policies, and inflated costs. All workloads ran on Intel-based instances that were costlier and not optimized for newer AMD-based types offering better price-to-performance ratios, while the distributed environment made it difficult to manage cross-workload dependencies and resource utilization.
• Built and deployed a centralized, multi-AZ VPC architecture using Terraform to ensure consistent and repeatable infrastructure provisioning.
• Migrated Amazon EC2 workloads from 50+ VPCs into a unified, secure Amazon VPC by leveraging automated workflows and dependency analysis.
• Executed an Intel-to-AMD migration approach, including performance benchmarking, in-place upgrades, and rebuild-based migrations to optimize cost and efficiency.
• Enabled seamless inter-VPC communication using AWS Transit Gateway and utilized AMI replication for smooth workload migration.
• Implemented AWS security best practices such as AWS IAM role standardization, AWS KMS encryption, VPC Flow Logs, AWS Config, and continuous monitoring through Amazon CloudWatch and SSM.
Reduced EC2 infrastructure costs by up to 25%, improved operational efficiency through VPC consolidation, and enhanced reliability with multi-AZ architecture, Terraform-based automation, and centralized security and compliance controls.
