The client’s AWS environment was entirely hosted on CentOS 7, which was reaching end-of-life. It lacked AWS IAM segregation, centralized monitoring, and automated backups. Application and database workloads ran together in a monolithic setup, creating high downtime risk and operational inefficiency.
• Built custom VPC with private/public subnets, NAT gateways, and Bastion Host for secure access.
• Migrated 13 servers (GitLab, OpenVPN, databases) to RHEL 9 EC2 instances.
• Migrated MySQL databases from Amazon EC2 to Amazon RDS Multi-AZ using AWS DMS.
• Implemented Application Load Balancer with SSL/TLS via Certificate Manager.
• Integrated AWS WAF, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector, AWS IAM, AWS Config, Amazon CloudWatch, and Amazon CloudTrail for security and monitoring.
• Deployed AWS Backup with EBS snapshots in Amazon S3 for disaster recovery.
• Delivered documentation and conducted knowledge transfer sessions.
The migration improved availability with a two-tier AWS architecture and enhanced security by reducing threats by over 80%. All 13 servers were seamlessly moved to RHEL 9, while centralized monitoring and automated backups cut response time by 40%. The new setup is scalable, compliant, and future-ready.
